Placing high importance on preserving the natural environment and making a meaningful contribution to local communities, several companies in The CITIZEN Group have been devoting sustained efforts toward realization of a sustainable future. Since 2001, CITIZEN ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. has participated in the Mt. Fuji Cleanup Strategy organized by the Mt. Fuji Beautification Foundation, conducting regular cleanup activities to help protect the beauty of Mt. Fuji. The company has also taken part in the Mt. Fuji Yoshida-gate Trail Cleanup Activity organized by the Fujiyoshida Tourism Promotion Service since 2018 with the aim of helping not only to keep the trails safe but also to raise environmental awareness among local people.
Since 2008, CITIZEN WATCH MANUFACTURING CO., LTD.’s Tohoku Soma Plant has conducted beautification activities along National Route 6, where the company’s employees collect trash. Since 1994, the company’s Iida Plant has taken part in cleanup activities along the Tenryu River and its tributaries, with about 90 employees and their children participating each time while learning about the importance of environmental beautification and waste sorting.
This kind of activity is not limited to within Japan; CITIZEN MACHINERY PHILIPPINES INC. and CITIZEN FINEDEVICE PHILIPPINES CORP. also continue to conduct annual cleanup activities for the rivers flowing through the industrial parks in which they are located, aiming to help preserve their local natural environments.
