All of Miyota watch movements provided since 2009 with mercury-free batteries
CITIZEN WATCH CO., LTD. announced that it has already switched to mercury-free batteries for all of quartz watch movements at the end of 2008.
It is roughly enough to account for about a quarter of watches with mercury-free batteries all over the world. CITIZEN WATCH is hoping to play a leading role to promote environmental protection globally.
Mercury batteries have been the mainstay of watch batteries for a long time because of its good performance with its advantageous discharge curves and long lifetime. Since mercury is hazardous to the environment, CITIZEN WATCH is making big efforts to remove all of mercury batteries from its lineup without changing any performance of the movements.
