Participation in “Because I am a Girl” Campaign
In 2013, CITIZEN WATCH began participating in the “Because I am a Girl” campaign, conducted by an international NGO,Plan International. We have donated a portion of the proceeds from sales of its “CITIZEN xC” watches since then, in order to support lives of girls and women in the developing countries.
From March 2016 to April 2017,CITIZEN WATCH supported the“Mathematics and science educational project for girls in Ghana” as well as the “Project to improve the livelihood of women in Malawi.”
In the former project awareness raising activities regarding importance of learning mathematics and science and a study camp were offered for girls and women in Ekumufi, Ghana, whose degree of the learning achievement in these field has been relatively lower. The project also provided an intense training for teachers to learn how to conduct better classes.
In the latter project in Mulanje, Malawi, opportunities for girls and women to learn skills and knowledge which are helpful to increase future income were offered through training on cultivation technique and cash crop sale and by providing opportunities to participate in the tree-planting program.
CITIZEN WATCH will continue to support girls all over the world.
- The "Because I am a Girl" Campaign
- Plan International, an NGO, conducts this global campaign in an attempt to impart the "strength to live" to girls and women living in difficult circumstances at the margins of society. Girls and women in developing countries are often bereft of the chance to acquire an education, being compelled to do housework from an early age. Frequently marrying when they are themselves in their teens, the lives of these "child brides" are often shortened by early pregnancy and childbirth. Plan International endeavors to provide educational opportunities for girls and women in difficult circumstances, thereby addressing the global problem of poverty.

Students of Saraburi School of Technology and employees of CMA
In August 2015, CITIZEN MACHINERY ASIA (hereinafter, CMA) donated a CMA automatic lathe to the Saraburi School of Technology, from which a number of its employees have graduated. Donation of an LED Projector to Chureito Pagoda of Arakurayama Sengen Park in Fujiyoshida
To mark its 45th anniversary, CITIZEN ELECTRONICS donated a projector equipped with one of its LED packages to Chureito Pagoda of Arakurayama Sengen Park in Fujiyoshida. These new LED projectors have excellent color reproducing capabilities. While the old projector left Chureito Pagoda merely tinged green, the new one illuminates the pagoda with vivid colors. The new projector is also able to achieve the same brightness as the old projector while using far less energy. In addition, as LED lights have little infrared and ultraviolet output, they control color fading and degradation and attract fewer insects. LED lights also represent an environmentally friendly product due to the fact that they do not contain the toxic substance mercury.
