1955 12 Wristwatch exports commence.
1956 3 In-house magazine Citizen Life is first published.
1956 4 Release the Parashock, Japan's first shock-resistant watch.
Drop tests of the Parashock commence.
1959   Provision of a time signal at Fuji Television (Intensification of PR activities)
1959 2 Citizen Deluxe wristwatch wins Minister of International Trade and Industry Award.
1959 7 Release the Parawater, Japan's first waterproof watch.
1960 3

An agreement is signed on technical assistance (plant export) to India.

1960 3 Partnership is formed with U.S.-based Bulova Watch Company
(Start of full-scale exports to the United States)
1960 12

Released Citizen Shine, the first wristwatch made in Japan for blind people, and donated to Nagoya School for the Blind.

1962 5 Thirty CITIZEN Shine watches are donated to the school for visually impaired students operated by Thailand’s welfare and education foundation for the blind.
1962 7 A partnership is formed with Hong Kong-based Gilman & Co.

A state-run watch factory is completed in India.

1963 6 A trans-Pacific test is performed on a Parawater watch, a completely waterproof wristwatch.
1963 7

A Citizen Watch employee wins gold in the mechanical drawing category of the 12th World Skills Competition in Ireland

1964 5

The Tanashi Table Tennis Team wins the All Japan Table Tennis Championship for Corporate Teams for the first time.

1964 6 A Certificate of Company Contributing to Exports is received from the Minister of International Trade and Industry.
1964 7 The Tanashi Factory wins an Excellent Safety Management Award from the Director-General of the Tokyo Labour Standards Bureau.
1965 5 The CA-10 electric adding machine and the CR-10 electric cash register are released.
1965 7 The Citizen team wins nine-a-side Men’s Volleyball Tournament and clinches the Emperor’s Cup
1965 10 Watch sales office is established in West Germany

1966 10 Synecton M45 automated assembly equipment is developed
1967 10

Via the United Nations, 215 CITIZEN Shine watches are donated to visually impaired persons in 29 countries around the world.

1969 12 P-12 mini printer for calculators is developed.
1970 12 The Cincom D16 NC automatic lathe is developed.
1971 4 A Citizen Watch employee wins the title of “Best Secretary in Japan” at the 2nd Secretary Selection Tournament.
1971 9 A CITIZEN WATCH employee wins gold in the watch repair category of the 20th World Skills Competition in Spain.
1973 8 The CITIZEN Quartz crystal oscillation electronic wristwatch is released.
1975 5

CITIZEN Shine watches are donated to 5,000 10th- to 12th-graders in schools for visually impaired students across the country.(Presented award certificate by Education Minister Nagai)

1976 3 External sales of electronic components such as quartz crystal are started.
1976 8 The Citizen Quartz Solar Cell, the world’s first analogue wristwatch powered by a solar cell, is released.
1980 2 The Citizen Group becomes the official timer for the 14th Ome Marathon. Since then, the Citizen Group has been serving as official timer for marathons and relay road races in Japan.
1980 8 The fifth agreement is signed for technical assistance to India (quartz watch technology).
1981 6 The Quartz Shine, a wristwatch for visually impaired wearers, is released.
1981 7 Heiwa Tokei Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is the first in the precision industry to win the Prime Minister’s Award for Distinguished Safety.
1981 10 The Citizen Group is the first in Japan to participate as an official in the watch repair category at the World Skills Competition for the Disabled (Abilympics).
1982 3 The Citizen Group serves as official timer for the IAAF-sanctioned Citizen Golden Marathon held in Athens. From around this time the Citizen Group has been active as the timer for international marathons.
1983 3 The CL Series lamps are released as the world’s first chip LED lamps.
1983 10 The CT-20 thermometer is released as the world’s first electronic clinical thermometer with an IC sensor.
1984 12 Thirty-nine bags of rice are donated to Africa (Motherland Academy) through a fundraising campaign conducted at the Tanashi Works.
1985 7 The Tanashi Works wins Mitaka Labour Standards Inspection Office Director’s Award
1986 12 Became the world's top producer of wristwatches (movements).
1987 1 Founded the Antipollution Control Committee (Tanashi Works)
1988 3 The Tanashi Works receives the Fire Chief’s Award from the Tokyo Fire Department.
1988 10 The Tanashi Works wins a Nationwide Excellent Advanced Business Establishment Award from Nikkei Inc.
1989 5 A Citizen Watch employee is the first to pass the new National Trade Skills Test for an Advanced grade Certified Skilled Machinery Worker.
1988 10 “New Life Seminar NLC” and “My Refresh Seminar MRC” seminars for middle-aged and elderly people begin.
1990 1

Start our "Citizen of the Year" program.

1990 5 The refreshing leave scheme is introduced.
1990 7 The Tanashi Works receives a citation from the Health and Welfare Minister for distinguished blood donation efforts.
1990 9 The Citizen Group is awarded the grand prize at the Japan Industrial Music Festival.
1991 12 Launch the Environmental Protection Committee, and subcommittees on waste, energy and resource conservation, consciousness raising, and PVCs.
1993 5 Begin sales of world's first multi-zone radio controlled watch.
1993 7 Stopped the use of specified CFCs. (CFC Reduction Committee)
1993 11 Stopped the use of 1.1.1-trichloroethane. (CFC Reduction Committee)
1994 5 Citizen Watch employees compete in the 7th National Watch Making Skill Competition for the first time, taking second place and an outstanding performance award.
1995 5 Begin sales of The Citizen, offering a 10-year warranty and a lifetime service program.
1995 10 The Tanashi Works receives the Chairperson’s Award from the Recycling Promotion Council.
1995 11 Start sales of solar-powered Eco-Drive watch.
1996 4

Obtained the first Eco Mark for eco-drive watches.

1996 11 The Tokorozawa Works receives a Minister of Labour Award as an Excellent Business Establishment in National Trade Skills Test.
1997 9 Founded the Hazardous Chemicals management Committee.
1997 12 The Tanashi Works achieves a record for no type 2 accidents of 10,500,000 hours.
1998 1 Tokorozawa Seimitsu Co., Ltd. begins a braille typewriter repair service and repairs 1,300 typewriters over seven years.
1998 12 Publish our Environmental Policy.
1999 8 Receive ISO 14001 certification.
1999 9 Establish our Environmental Management Department.
1999 10 Founded the Environment management Committee and established subcommittees to deal with energy conservation, resource conservation, industrial waste and hazardous chemicals.
2000 7 Founded the Watch Customer Service Desk.
2000 12

Publish our 2000 Environmental Report.

2001 4 Released Mu, a watch of universal design.
2001 5 Inaugurate our Semiannual Environmental Management Conference, and start subcommittees on energy savings, waste reduction, and hazardous materials.
2002 4 Founded the Lead-Free Committee.
2002 10 The “universal design” series of health devices appears.
2002 12 Introduced automatic time keeping for marathon/ekiden races through the use of IC chips.

2003 4 Founded the Eco-friendly product subcommittee and green purchasing subcommittee.
2003 9 Launch the CSR Committee and the CSR Promotion Committee.
2003 12 The business license award scheme is introduced.
2004 1 Enact our Citizen's Code of Conduct, the Corporate Ethics Hotline is established.
2004 7 Establish our CSR Department.
2005 4

The Citizen Group signs the United Nations Global Compact.

2005 10 CSR Report 2005 published.
2005 10 Group brand logo is introduced.
2006 1 Social contribution section established.
2006 4 The Elder Partner scheme, a continuing employment program for the elderly, is introduced.
2007 4 The company name is changed to Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. and a pure holding company structure is introduced.
2007 4 Enact our Citizen Group Code of Conduct.
2007 4 Citizen receives a commendation from the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry as a leader in patent activity.
2008 3 Citizen’s AO oil, a high-performance lubricating oil, receives The 7th Green Sustainable Chemistry Award, awarded by the Minister of the Environment.
2008 4 An external hotline is established.
2008 10 The Citizen Volunteer Club is inaugurated.
2008 11

Citizen engages in conservation activities on green land in Tatemachi, Hachioji.

A CITIZEN HEIWA WATCH employee is honored by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare as a Modern Master Craftsperson.

2010 9 Citizen endorses the Millennium Development Goals and participates in the “Stand Up, Take Action” awareness campaign.
2011 6 Citizen Group CSR Report 20011 published.
