
Article 5 of the Citizen Group Code of Conduct states that the Citizen Group will always "value symbiosis with local communities and strive to contribute to society as a good corporate citizen." As a member of society, we try to ensure that our business activities benefit society as a whole and make the most of the ties that Group companies have built up with local communities to help revitalize communities.
We also cooperate with partners such as local authorities, NPOs, NGOs and voluntary organizations as necessary to play our role as a good corporate citizen.

As a watchmaker with trustworthy time measuring technologies, Citizen Watch Co., Ltd. participates in marathon events and long-distance relay races as an official sponsor.
A wireless chip technology that has rapidly gained in popularity recently is utilized. Signals from the IC chips attached to the chest tags of participants are detected with an automatic measurement system, with the recorded times then sent on to TV stations instantly via the Internet to be used in live coverage.

Having achieved great results in domestic competitions, Citizen's table tennis team now runs table tennis classes and courses at locations throughout Japan. Those who have taken part in classes, which were planned as an enjoyable activity for children to get involved in, have been delighted with the results, leaving comments such as "I have got much better than when I started" and "I can pull off a smash now." 1,796 people took part in a total of 19 classes during fiscal 2010.

At Citizen Watch Co., Ltd., we donate part of the proceeds from sales of our Eco-Drive products to the Solar Bear Fund, through which we provide joint support for the installation of solar generation facilities at nurseries and kindergartens around Japan. In fiscal 2010, we donated three solar generation facilities.

At Citizen Watch China Co., Ltd., we have held walking activities under the banner of "walk for your health, walk for the environment" once a year since 2007 across China. Each time, we conduct tree planting activities and study sessions on environmental issues. In fiscal 2010, around twenty people including members of the general public took part in activities in the Changbai Mountains in Jilin Province.

At Citizen Watches (India) Pvt. Ltd., we planted saplings in KR Puram in Bangalore on World Environment Day on June 5, 2010, planting the same number of trees as the number of Eco-Drive watches sold throughout India.

At the Kitamimaki Works of Citizen Finetech Miyota Co., Ltd. we hope to restore the population of critically-endangered Shijimiaeoides Divinus butterflies, and as a part of these efforts held the 6th Parent-Child Nature Walk in May 2010. The head of the local Shijimiaeoides Divinus Preservation Society also gave a report, saying, "we hope to restore the butterfly's numbers to their levels 30 years ago. Sightings of the butterfly have also doubled over the past several years."

About 50 employees including the president and directors take part in the Mount Fuji Cleanup Campaign organized by the Mount Fuji Beautification Foundation every year. Employees take part in cleanup activities in the area around the 5th Station of Mt. Fuji, for environmental beautification of the famous mountain that is the symbol of Japan. Citizen Seimitsu Co., Ltd. has also participated in the activities since fiscal 2006, in tandem with its efforts towards environmental beautification of the region.

Every year, many of our employees take part in cleanup activities as part of the Lake Kawaguchi Cleanup Campaign, which takes place at the end of April and is organized by the town of Fuji-Kawaguchiko and other local communities. In April 2010, approximately 334 of our employees took part. This year, as well as the area around Kawaguchiko Ooike Park, we also undertook cleanup activities in the vicinity of the Head Office Plant, Fuji Yoshida Plant, dormitory for single employees, Fuji Plant and other residences.

We participate in cleanup activities organized by the Nagano Techno Foundation along the main stream and tributaries of the Tenryu River from the town of Tatsuno to Iida City at the end of May each year.
Since the first picnic was held, about 70 Citizen Heiwa Watch Co., Ltd. employees and their families have taken part in the cleanup every year. We collect empty cans and bottles to beautify the immediate environment of the Tenryu River. As well as raising awareness of garbage separation and understanding its importance, we recognize the current state of the Tenryu River and work to help improve morale and create a recycling-oriented society.

As a joint volunteer activity, employees of, Citizen Machinery Co., Ltd., Citizen Finetech Miyota Co., Ltd. and Citizen Watch Miyota Co., Ltd., conduct cleanup activities in the Miyota area of Nagano Prefecture three times a year. Employees collect trash around their respective company premises and along the streets in an effort to keep the area clean.

At Citizen Electronics Co., Ltd., we participate in the Million Trees Campaign organized by Yamanashi Prefecture and the Yamanashi Prefecture Forestry Promotion Organization every year. The campaign revolves around community and volunteer tree planting activities and is aimed at creating a model forest for the 21st century. In May 2010, a group of employees, including some new recruits, took part in the tree planting activities in a mountain village near the city of Fujiyoshida, planting Japanese cypresses.

Citizen Group companies actively encourage participation in factory tours and schemes such as work-study programs for junior high school students and internships.
A total of 1,545 people from 48 organizations had taken part in such activities at Citizen Tohoku Co., Ltd. as of March 2010.

Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. held a Junior Manufacturing Class for 41 West Tokyo elementary school students and parents.
A Citizen Heiwa Watch Co., Ltd. employee who in 2009 was recognized by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare as a Modern Master Craftsperson served as instructor for the class, where participants got to try out watch assembly.

At Royal Time Citi Co., Ltd., we accepted interns for periods of between two weeks and four months in order to recruit new graduates from universities and vocational schools in Thailand's Ayutthaya province.

We organize various training programs at Citizen Machinery Europe GmbH, ranging from one to four years in length. From teaching machine operating techniques for Cincom products and practical skills in areas such as personnel and sales to training international business management assistants, we actively welcome business trainees from a wide range of backgrounds and from all over the world since 2004.

We provide support to help train highly skilled engineers in the local area by assigning experienced members of staff from Citizen Tohoku Co., Ltd. to the Die-Mold and Casting Engineering Department at the Iwate University Graduate School of Engineering to serve as teachers specializing in die-mold technology, which serves as a basis of manufacturing.

Female employees from our watch division visit schools and give five to seven-day training courses in the handling of wrist watch components and simple assembly to high school students with handicaps.
Each year we also cooperate with out-of-school learning programs and accept students as trainees for two weeks to help broaden the scope of job opportunities open to them.
In fiscal 2006 these efforts were recognized and we were awarded the One More Life Worker Volunteer Award from the Sawayaka Welfare Foundation.

Iida City (Nagano Prefecture), Iida Museum and the Nagano Techno Foundation organize science workshops for children four times a year on Saturdays. Citizen Heiwa Watch Co., Ltd. sends instructors to a class it operates as part of the workshops, where children are given the chance to experience the fun and joy of manufacturing first-hand. Also, in the segment on companies' own products and their capacity for technological development, introductions to the world-class products and components being manufactured by local companies have proven popular among the children.

We cosponsor a range of events through Citizen Systems Japan Co., Ltd., introducing health-related equipment such as pedometers to help keep people fit and healthy. In fiscal 2010, we cosponsored a walking and hiking event organized by Seibu Railway.

At Royal Time Citi Co., Ltd., we have engaged in blood donation activities since fiscal 2008. We hope to actively organize further blood donation activities in the future.

By actively taking part in local traditional events, we at the Citizen Group do our bit to help revitalize local communities. Citizen Watch Kawaguchiko Co., Ltd., Citizen Electronics Co., Ltd. and Citizen Seimitsu Co., Ltd. dedicate taimatsu pine torches at the Yoshida Fire Festival every year, which is known as one of Japan's three big festivals with unique traditions, and pray for the safety of mountain climbers. Meanwhile, employees from Citizen Citizen Finetech Miyota Co., Ltd. take part in dancing at the Ryujin Festival every year.

At Citizen Electronics Funehiki Co., Ltd., we help out with a local primary school's efforts to collect pull-tabs from cans and trade them in for wheelchairs every year.
We hope that life can return to normal as soon as possible for everyone affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake which struck on March 11, 2011. For its part the Citizen Group has donated 100 million yen through the headquarters of the Japanese Red Cross. We also donated 3,000 electronic thermometers to Fukushima Red Cross Hospital.
Citizen Group companies have contributed a total of 50 million yen in donations, monetary gifts and thermometers in support of relief and rebuilding activities in disaster-stricken areas of the large earthquake which stuck on May 12, 2008 in China's Sichuan Province. The contributions were made via agencies such as the Japanese Red Cross Society, the Nippon Keidanren Fund and the Red Cross Society of China.
Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. hopes that life can return to normal as soon as possible for everyone affected by the Chuetsu Offshore Earthquake in Niigata prefecture which occurred on July 16, 2007, and has contributed 500,000 yen to the Community Chest of Niigata Prefecture.
Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. has contributed 500,000 yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society as funds for relief activities and rebuilding due to the earthquake that struck central Java, Indonesia on May 27, 2006.

As part of disaster relief efforts for the earthquake that struck Pakistan in October 2005, we donated 800 tents to Pakistan and 200 tents to India (to a total value of $US100,000) through the local Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. Gratitude was expressed because we managed to donate the waterproof tents in a timely fashion, allowing more than 10,000 people to shelter themselves before the full onset of winter.

The damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, which struck the United States' Gulf Coast in August 2005, became the most extensive in hurricane history. There are several hundred retailers who are Citizen Watch Co. of America customers in the disaster-stricken area. Citizen Watch Co. of America and Citizen Watch Co., Ltd. jointly donated $US100,000 to the American Red Cross to help those affected with rebuilding.

At the end of June 2005, a long spell of heavy rain in southern China caused flooding, resulting in extensive damage. Since Master Crown Electronics Co., Ltd., the Chinese plant of Citizen Finetech Miyota Co., Ltd. is located in Wuzhou, Citizen Watch Co., Ltd. and Citizen Finetech Miyota Co., Ltd. jointly donated 5 million yen to the city government.

As part of the "protect the lives of mothers" campaign run by the Tokyo Office of the United Nations Population Fund from June 2009 to July 2010, Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. cosponsored the "Thank you, Mom" Mother's Day message contest and provided prizes.

In December 2010, employees from 34 Citizen Group companies participated in an activity to collected toothbrushes in Japan and donate them Philippines Medical Care Support Association, a group that provides free medical care to poverty-stricken villages in the Philippines. 3,075 toothbrushes, which are prohibitively expensive locally in the Philippines, were collected and donated as part of the activity.

In March 2011, Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. donated 18 wristwatches to a fledgling project organized by Bridge for Smile, an incorporated nonprofit organization. The donation was part of a self-reliance support project targeting high school students at orphanages. The children, who will have to leave the facility and support themselves when they graduate from high school, are provided with the knowledge they will need to live in society in a seminar format. The wristwatches are used as point-based presents for the seminar attendees.

In March 2011, the Citizen Volunteer Club collected unused and second-hand wristwatches owned by employees. After going through maintenance at Citizen Customer Service, a total of 69 wristwatches were donated to Bridge for Smile, an incorporated nonprofit organization.

In March 2011, Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. donated 150,000 yen to the Hinatabokko community nursing care provider promotion group, an incorporated nonprofit organization.
The donation is used by Hinatabokko, a group of community nursing care providers, for things such as relocation expenses for attending school or switching jobs.

To mark its 25th anniversary with an expression of gratitude to the city, in June 2010 Citizen Yubari Co., Ltd. donated five million yen to Yubari City to pay for improvements to transportation waiting facilities. In the years ahead, we will continue to support and contribute to the development of Yubari City.
In February and March 2010, at Citizen Seimitsu Co., Ltd. and Citizen Watch Kagoshima Co., Ltd., we have made donations to local governments (10 million yen to Fujiyoshida City, 10 million yen to the town of Fuji-Kawaguchiko and 5 million yen to Hioki City, Kagoshima Prefecture) as a part of efforts to contribute to local communities with which we interact daily, with the aim of promoting employment and education in these communities. To engage in sustained business activities in a stable fashion, it is essential to build long-term relationships of trust with all of our stakeholders. As a corporate citizen, we will continue to work together with local residents towards revitalizing their communities.

In November 2010, Citizen Watch Europe G.m.b.H donated 200 euros to the Gold-Kraemer Foundation, which was established with the aim of supporting children with physical disabilities. 661.5 euros were also donated to UNICEF through the purchase of Christmas cards.

Each year, Citizen De Mexico,S.A.De C.V.donates watches to Luz De Vida and other private aid organizations. The watches are sold at a bazaar and the proceeds are used to provide food and clothing to street children and to fund the medical expenses of children suffering from cancer.

At Citizen Latinamerica Corp., we donate watches for visually impaired people to the Panama Society for the Blind.

At CITIZEN LATINAMERICA Corp., we donated US$4,000 to Aldeas Infantiles SOS (SOS Children's Villages) Panama, an organization that runs orphanages in Panama, to help fund orphanage running costs and child support activities. The organization has dubbed us amigos (friends) as a result of our efforts to support local communities.

In December 2009, we made a donation of 10,000 Yuan to the Guangzhou Charity Association, which belongs to the Guangzhou city government.

Citizen Watch Company of America, Inc. has long been offering donations to Jewelers for Children, a charity that provides support for children suffering from serious diseases and abuses.

In the hope of helping Brazilian children, the bearers of their country's future, in even a small way, in fiscal 2006 Citizen Watch Co., Ltd. and Citizen Watch do Brasil S.A. jointly donated 4.4 million yen's worth of bookshelves, desks, chairs and computers in the form of various facilities to Escola Caritas, a school in Brazil. Since then our watch dealers and we have donated part of our sales to help the school buy books and maintain its library.
